Achard Holiday Lets - self-catering accommodation in Assynt

Photo: Achard (pronounced “AHC-ard).  Achard is Gaelic for High Field.  Click on image for larger photo.

More photos.

Achard is located in a superb elevated position between Clashmore and Achnacarnin, on the Stoer peninsula. It has extensive views from Arkle and Foinaven in the north to the iconic mountains of Assynt, and southwards to Coigach, Torridon and Skye.

It makes a superb base for a wide variety of outdoor activities, for touring/exploring the north-west coast, or for a peaceful relaxing rest in a quiet rural location.   There are nearby sandy beaches at Clashnessie, Balchladich and Stoer.

This is a spacious cottage on a single level, providing self-catering accommodation sleeping up to 6, with towels, bed-linen and heating/electricity included in the price.  It comprises the following:

Double en-suite bedroom (king-sized bed, toilet, shower, wash-basin) with sea and mountain views to the north-east.

Double bedroom with sea and mountain views to the south.

Twin bedroom with sea and mountain views to the south.

Bathroom with toilet, bath, wash-basin.

Large kitchen-cum-dining room with refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave - and coastal views to the south-west.

Utility room with fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble drier.

Large lounge with panoramic mountain and sea views and open fire (should you require it - an electric stove with remote control provides heating otherwise).  Digital terrestrial (Freeview) TV and Radio/Cassette/CD player.

Broadband / wi-fi.

Shed for bike storage.

I regret that no pets can be accommodated.

Please have a browse around my site, where you will find more information about the cottage and the local area, and feel free to e-mail or telephone for further information.  Since I live close by with my husband Martin, I’m usually on hand if you have any problems - Aileen

Also, kindly note that if you choose to telephone me rather than contact me by e-mail you will reach an answering machine.  We do not pick up the telephone for unrecognised numbers due to too many nuisance calls.  Please speak clearly when you leave your name and telephone number and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

I want to reassure guests that I respect your privacy and that I take the security of your information very seriously.  Click here for my General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) statement.

Special conditions due to Coronavirus precautions and Government restrictions (updated):

On 2nd July, the First Minister announced “self-contained holiday accommodation – for example holiday cottages, lodges or caravans with no shared facilities - can reopen from tomorrow (3rd July)”, and “We will also from tomorrow … lift the guidance advising people to travel no more than five miles for leisure purposes”.

Currently it is thought that the virus can live for up to 3 days on common household surfaces.  Therefore, for the foreseeable future, I won’t be taking bookings in the week before or the week after a period in which I have taken a booking for Achard.  This is to permit a 3-day “Covid protection time” after the house is vacated before I enter to clean and service the property, and a 3-day “Covid protection time” after that before the next occupants arrive, so as to minimise the possibility of the transmission of Coronavirus.

This policy will only work if for the remainder of 2020 if I take bookings for full weeks only; I also ask that payment is made by bank transfer (internet banking) wherever possible.

Guests are requested to comply with all Scottish Government guidelines during their stay.

This notice will be updated as further information becomes available.  If you have any concerns on this issue, please e-mail me.

Current Guidance for Hill Walkers and Climbers in Scotland should be followed, and may be found here: https://www.mountaineering.scot/coronavirus
